Marking one of the first art installations in the cultural history of Beirut, Catherine Chidiac exhibited Explosition from December 14 to 21, 2000 at Zico House.
A graduate of ALBA, Catherine Chidiac operated a real re-reading of gender and was part of a process of deconstruction of stereotypes. By dismembering and re-dismembering Barbie dolls amidst painted portraits of women, the artist questioned the aesthetic norms transmitted from childhood and maintained through kitsch.
Flying over the space, Levantine was an exhibition suspended from the ceiling, where a dozen portraits of Lebanese painted on paper canvases were swinging.
An exhibition organized by Zico House (Beirut).
