On Thursday 20 March at 8pm, Zico House hosted the screening of Halfaouine, organized by the Nadi Lekol El Nas film club.
Noura is about to turn twelve. In Halfaouine, the working-class district of Tunis where he lives with his parents, he has always accompanied his mother to the hammam. He begins to look at the nudity spread around him with an eye that is no longer quite that of a child. The rest of the time, he wanders the streets with two older friends, who accept him because he describes to them the charms of the women he observes during the bath. Noura is also friends with Salih, a great seducer. Finally expelled from the hammam, Noura soon finds another subject to study. His mother’s cousin installs her captivating beauty…
Directed by Ferid Boughedir and set to music by Anouar Brahem, this 1990 Tunisian film was shown in partnership with CHICO, Zico House and Nadi Lekol El Nas.
