From December 3 to 12, Zico House welcomes the exhibition and the workshop L’art come expérience (Art as experience) by Caroline Pouzolles. Her first workshop, Matières à penser (Matters to think) was held from 21 to 24 November.
During these workshops, the trainees produce works while reflecting on sound, music and the materials used in their work.
On the other hand, the fff exhibition is an interactive work by Caroline Pouzolles made from sounds, materials and meetings made in Beirut.
The constructions are associated with micro-contacts. These are sensors that transform material vibrations into a very weak electric current that is then amplified to become sound.
Eventually, on December 10, Zico House hosts an evening of performances at free price: actors, dancers (including the dancer Rouaida al Gali), Lebanese musicians are invited to use the work as a kind of super stage, sensitive to their movements. The musicians will also be able to add their instrumental improvisations to the sounds of the installation.
These workshops were done in partnership with ARTEMED, L’échafaudage du réel, Barometre and Cyntra paint.
Caroline Pouzolles is an artist and performer living in Paris. Her stay in Beirut was made through meetings between the French and Lebanese artistic communities in Paris.
Her work as a plastic artist, made of raw materials, integrating electronics and audiovisual elements, as well as her choreographic performances, found a good echo in Beirut, in particular thanks to the welcome given to her at Zico House, an unusual place of cultural activities in the city.
Thus, she collaborated in happenings, in particular with musicians from the Mill (Free Improvised Music from Lebanon) and a Lebanese dancer.
She also gave a practical plastic arts course to a small group of interested parties.
This residence continued at the Instants chavirés (in Montreuil, France), with a visual-musical performance by Caroline Pouzolles in the company of musicians Sharif Sehnaoui, Mazen Kerbaj…
