Vertebrae is a performance which was held at Zico House and Mansion on November 21 and 22. The performance took place in an imagined environment of immersive landscapes, entering and exiting the body-mind experience through movement and sound. The research project had been lead by Farah Azrak with the artists : Mayssan Charafeddine, Layal Berberi, Omar Itani, Joslin Faith Kehdy, Michael Karr, Mohammad Bitar, Ana Bogner, Mauricio Yazbek and Faten El-Khechen.
Farah Azrak was born in Damascus, Syria in 1986, and studied Fashion Design at the Istituto Marangoni in London, UK. Her career has taken her from working at Alexander McQueen to The Women’s Embroidery Workshop in Shatila Refugee Camp, from Harpers Baazar to dance therapy. She now lives and works in Beirut, Lebanon.
Azrak’s vibrant and symbolist collages are influenced by the state of anxiety engendered by a constant fluctuation of place and belonging. The dense and decorative surfaces of these images are rich, but not static. They are full of movement and humour.Her characters often seem to be performing, as if in a play or film, or perhaps playing up to the camera lens, composing themselves for a fashion shot or for a film poster.
The work of Mayssan Charafeddine (1987, Lebanese -Canadian) is expressed through different mediums, video, dance, performance, photography and drawing. With a focus on the body and an interest for lost narratives, Mayssan researches the instinctive ancestral mouvement memory that is carried.
Ritualistic dancing and journeying into somatic spaces are the two main forms in Layal‘s artistic endeavors. Her work is finding the bridges between our physical bodies and celestial ones, through untold ancestral stories that spaces still hold. She co-founded Zayraqoun collective (street performances and social parades) and she has been working for over 8 years, with different communities on educational reform through performing arts and mainly movement.
Ana Bogner is a musician and sound artist. Her artistic content revolves around the theme of imaginary space: poetic realities as a state of human consciousness. She works both compositionally and installatively – architecturally.
Mauricio Yazbek is a Brazilian and Lebanese director. He defines himself as a professional in image, text and sound, which he combines with harmony and poetry to inspire people…

فقرات هو أداء أقيم في زيكو هاوس و مانشن بتاريخ ٢١ و ٢٢ تشرين الثاني. و قد أقيم الأداء ضمن بيئة خيالية و مناظر طبيعية غامرة، من خلال الدخول و الخروج من خبرة العقل الجسديّ عن طريق الحركة و الصوت
و قد تمّ تنفيذ مشروع البحث من قبل فرح أزرق و الفنانين: ميسم شرف الدين، ليال بربري، عمر عيتاني، جوزلين فيث كعدي، ميشال قرّ، محمد بيطار، آنا بونيي، موريسيو يزبك و فاتن الخشن
ولدت فرح أزرق في دمشق – سوريا، عام ١٩٨٦، و درست تصميم الموضة في معهد مارانغوني في لندن، المملكة المتحدة. و قد دفعتها ورشة عملها للعمل عند ألكساندر أم سي كوين، و أيضا في مشغل خياطة لنساء مخيّم اللاجئين في شاتيلا، و عند هاربرز بازار و أيضا قامت بنشاطات العلاج بالرقص. و هي الان تعيش و تعمل في بيروت – لبنان
إن المجمعات النابضة بالحياة و الرمزية لأزرق قد تأثّرت بحالة القلق الناتجة عن تغييرات الفضاء الثابتة و عن أماكن الانتماء. كما أنّ المساحات الكثيفة و الزخرفية لهذه الصور غنيّة، و لكنها ليست إحصائيّة. فهي مليئة بالحركة و الدعابة. و يبدو لنا أن هؤلاء الأشخاص يمثّلون أحيانا كأنّهم في مشهد مسرحيّ أو فيلم، أو أمام عدسة الكاميرا، واقفين لالتقاط صورة أزياء أو إعلان عن فيلم
و تعبّر ميسم شرف الدين (١٩٨٧ لبنلنية كنديّة) عن عملها بعدّة طرق: الفيديو، الرقص، الأداء، التصوير و الرسم. من خلال التركيز على الجسد و النصوص الضائعة، تبحث ميسم عن الذاكرة الغريزية لحركات الأسلاف
إنّ طقوس الرقص و الشعر في الفضاءات الجسدية هما الشكلان الأساسيان لخطوات ليال الفنية. و من شأن عملها إيجاد صلة الوصل ما بين أجسادنا المادية و السماوية، عن طريق قصص الأسلاف غير المنشورة التي تحتويها المساحات. لقد شاركت بتأسيس مجموعة زيرقون (مجموعة مشاهد شوارع و عروض اجتماعية) و عملت منذ الثامنة من عمرها، مع عدّة جماعات على إعادة تشكيل التربية من خلال فنون المسرح و خاصة الحركة
آنا بونير هي عازفة و فنانة صوت. يدورعملها حول محور الفضاء الخيالي: الحقائق الشعرية كمثل حالة الوعي الانسانيّ. و تعمل على مخطّطي التأليف و التركيب في آن معا و على المخطّط المعماريّ
موريسيو يزبك هو مدير برازيلي و لبناني. و يعرّف عن نفسه كخبير بالصورة، النص و الصوت الذين يدمجهم سويّا بالشعر و بالانسجام لجذب الناس
