On May 3 to 6 and 11 to 13, the Arabic theater show Silk Thread (Khait Harir) was hold at Zico House.
Silk thread is a show directed by Maya Zbib, created and written by the company Zoukak. It was performered by Lamia Abi Azar, Hashem Adnan, Danya Hammoud, Junaid Sarrieddeen, and Maya Zbib. The scenography was made by Nathalie Harb and Maya Zbib.
The rest of the team was composed of Randa Mirza (photography), Riccardo Clementi (Light designer), Maya Chami (Graphic design and digital arts), Ali Chahrour (Assistant director), Stephanie Aznarez (Make-up designer), Ghina Sibahi (Props maker). This event was supported by Zico house, the British Council and the French Institute in Lebanon.
The show mixes the imagination of several tales to lead a reflection on the social structures inherited from the past. This in situ performance questions gender stereotypes conveyed by tales, myths, modern legends and current events. The public is invited to listen to stories and be a direct witness to events: from Little Red Riding Hood to a rape, from Bluebeard to an abused child, from Sleeping Beauty to a woman taken from her grave by young people drunk men…
In this imaginary village of Kfarjahl, men are killed in their sleep by their wives, the dead come back to life and ask for the right to life, women are hanged for infidelity…
