His painting recomposes lines and colors, taken from these torn papers, into new graphic and poetic compositions.

Born in Sète, France in 1960, the French artist Christian Gastaldi is a painter who substitutes oil or acrylic for pieces of posters or magazines, and replaces the brushstrokes with handmade tears. His painting then recomposes lines and colors, taken from these torn papers, into new graphic and poetic compositions.

As part of his artistic residency at Zico House, Christian Gastaldi is exhibiting about 50 paintings composed of damaged papers collected on the walls of Beirut during the October 2019 Revolution.
