On Thursday 20 March at 8pm, Zico House hosted the screening of The Battle of Algiers, organized by the Nadi Lekol El Nas film club.
October 1957. Colonel Mathieu’s paratroopers surround the refuge of Ali-La Pointe, leader of the urban guerrilla movement. During his hours of forced confinement, Ali relives the itinerary that led him from the state of delinquent and pimp to that of guerrilla leader of the F.L.N. November 1954, the terrorist organization begins its activity in Algeria; these are the first bombings in bars, train stations and cinemas of the “European city. Ali became one of the leaders of the organization, under the direction of Ben M’Hidi, while the parachutists arrived in Algiers, greeted by the European population. Colonel Mathieu, taking advantage of a strike, enters the Arab quarter and makes the first arrests…
Directed by Gollo Pontecorvo, this 1966 Italian film was shown in partnership with CHICO, Zico House and Nadi Lekol El Nas.
