From April 2 to 19, Zico House was pleased to welcome the painting exhibition I come and Stand at every door by Maher Kouraytem.
Maher Kouraytem is an autodidact artist and community organizer living in Montreal, born in Beirut. He is enthusiastic about initiatives that connect people, create awareness. Maher believes in art’s capacity to critically reflect society while providing platforms for marginalized voices. Maher is currently studying studio art at Concordia University.
The exhibition is a commemoration of his uncle, Ahmad Yamoud, who was kidnapped and assassinated 25 years ago during Lebanon’s civil war. The acrylic paintings celebrate iconic pacifists, many of whom were victims of persecution and were later assassinated.
First displayed at Zico House, this exhibit was also on show at Saifi Village’s Ceramic Lounge until August 6, where it continues to draw crowds.

ماهر قريطم هو فنان عصاميّ و منظّم مجتمعيّ يعيش في مونتريال، من مواليد بيروت. يعير اهتمامه خاصة للمبادرات التي تصل الناس ببعضها و تخلق الوعي. يؤمن ماهر بقدرة الفن على العكس بطريقة تنتقد المجتمع مقدّما صوتا للأكثر تهميشا. يدرس ماهر حاليا الفن في جامعة كونكورديا
إن المعرض يحيي ذكرى عمّه، أحمد يموت، الذي خطف و قتل منذ خمس و عشرون سنة خلال الحرب الأهلية في لبنان. فرسومات الأكريليك تحتفل بدعاة السلام الأيقونيين الذين كان العديد منهم ضحية الاضطهاد و من ثم تم قتلهم
كما قدّم هذا المعرض أولا في زيكو هاوس، قدّم أيضا في سيراميك لونج في صيفي فيلاج حتى السادس من شهر آب، حيث استمرّ بجذب العديد من الجمهور
