The painter Monica Haddad was welcomed by Zico House to perform her exhibition Just Looking from June 25 to 30.
The artist, who came to Beirut to paint, was inspired by the architecture of the city of Beirut, by its tall buildings, its cables, its satellite dishes. This gave her ideas to make an exhibition in a style that contrasts quite radically with her usual work.
Monica Haddad began as an abstract artist, using strong colors. But little by little, she had been really inspired by nature and began to paint landscapes, woods, gardens, seasons… Her work is a kind of collage of different spaces she had seen and imagined. For her, the entire process before painting, from choosing the wood for the frame to mixing paint with other materials such as resin is as important as the process of painting : the process of creation is even more significant than the completed work.
