As part of a vast operation to collect waste on Lebanese beaches, Zico House hosted Foreign Bodies, an exceptional installation by Souheil Sleiman, from Wednesday May 9 to 17, 2001.
A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, Souheil Sleiman has exhibited his work in Western Europe – Liverpool (1990), Châteauroux (1990, 1992), Nijmegen (1992), Manchester (1993), Glasgow (1997), London (2000, 2001) and Berlin (2002).
As a point of contact between natural landscapes and the artificiality of material modernity, Foreign Bodies informs about the excesses of consumerism. Debris (plastic, metal) found on beaches was incorporated into a sand floor, reminding us of the ecological guilt of societies. In these geological layers, Souheil Sleiman made each piece of garbage a residue of our civilizational model – a clue left for tomorrow’s archaeologists.

كجزء من عملية واسعة النطاق لجمع النفايات من الشواطئ اللبنانية، استضاف Zico House من الأربعاء 9 إلى 17 مايو 2001 Foreign Bodies، وهي منشأة فنية مميزة لسهيل سليمان.
تخرج سهيل سليمان من الكلية الملكية للفنون في لندن، وعرض أعماله في أوروبا الغربية – ليفربول (1990)، شاتورو (1990 ، 1992)، نيميغن (1992)، مانشستر (1993)، غلاسكو (1997)، لندن (2000 ،2001) وبرلين (2002).
تمثل Foreign Bodies نقطة اتصال بين المناظر الطبيعية وتصنيع الحداثة المادية، وتعلق على النزعة الاستهلاكية المفرطة. تم دمج الحطام (البلاستيك والمعدن) المتواجد على الشواطئ في أرضية رملية تذكيراً بالذنب المجتمعي تجاه البيئة. في هذه الطبقات الجيولوجية، جعل سهيل سليمان من كل قطعة قمامة أثراً لمخلفات نموذجنا الحضاري – وهو دليل متروك لعلماء آثار الغد.
